A very nice done corner allowed Ödön Szily to score against Viktor Pettersson in Skövde AIK's goal. 0-1 after 12 minutes. SC Freiburg 1904 e.V.'s Andriy Lunin played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Kevin Keegan in the 19th minute of play. In the 20th minute of the match Skövde AIK got a corner. SC Freiburg 1904 e.V.'s goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Chen Ao Fan ran over to the corner to take the kick. Skövde AIK's Chen Ao Fan was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Andriy Lunin in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. Andriy Lunin took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Kurt Hamrin, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Nisar Burkart in the 29th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Viktor Pettersson saved Skövde AIK from getting behind. Viktor Pettersson made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Henning Fink in the 31st minute of play. Viktor Pettersson stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Niculae Ungureanu's shot from short distance in the 34th minute. SC Freiburg 1904 e.V.'s Andriy Lunin proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 36th minute of the match, managed to save SC Freiburg 1904 e.V. from getting a goal against them. The audience thought a goal was coming when Kurt Hamrin got free with Andriy Lunin in the 36th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. SC Freiburg 1904 e.V.'s attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Henning Fink in the 41st minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 47th minute, Niculae Ungureanu managed to get in a good position for a shot. SC Freiburg 1904 e.V.'s supporters rose to their feet, but Niculae Ungureanu was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Viktor Pettersson breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Chen Ao Fan was the one to do the kick off. Skövde AIK were furious when Krister Uggstedt was red carded, 52 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. SC Freiburg 1904 e.V. made a substitution. Eustaquio Brufau replaced Ödön Szily. 52 minutes into the game, one of Skövde AIK:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. The goalkeeper, Viktor Pettersson, was totally fooled by SC Freiburg 1904 e.V.'s Nisar Burkart, who 55 minutes into the game made a penalty shot that went in on the goalkeeper's left side. Nisar Burkart took the ball and in the 58 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Viktor Pettersson. Viktor Pettersson dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-3. Skövde AIK's Jerry Williams was substituted for Kurt Hamrin. 68 minutes into the game, Georg Norström threw the ball into play from the sideline. SC Freiburg 1904 e.V.'s Henning Fink quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. An unexpectedly hard shot by Niculae Ungureanu in the 69th minute of play forced Skövde AIK's goalkeeper Viktor Pettersson to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The SC Freiburg 1904 e.V. fans' excitement grew in the 74th match minute when SC Freiburg 1904 e.V.'s Niculae Ungureanu looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-4 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Niculae Ungureanu might have been able to make a better finish in the 78th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Viktor Pettersson. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Niculae Ungureanu could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 78th minute of the match, but Viktor Pettersson made a huge save. 80 minutes into the match, Skövde AIK's goalkeeper Viktor Pettersson had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Niculae Ungureanu. After some fancy dribbling in the 85th minute, Niculae Ungureanu managed to get in a good position for a shot. SC Freiburg 1904 e.V.'s supporters rose to their feet, but Niculae Ungureanu was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Viktor Pettersson came out of the goal in the 88th minute to try and stop a shot by SC Freiburg 1904 e.V.'s Niculae Ungureanu. But to his dismay, Niculae Ungureanu quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-5. In the 92nd minute of the game Jerry Williams made a throw-in which Georg Norström played forward. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Nisar Burkart during the 96th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The SC Freiburg 1904 e.V. players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
