In the 33rd minute the ball was on its way in behind Ríver Late's goalkeeper Geovani de Salles, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Geovani de Salles took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Matthew Brookman, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Ríver Late's Geovani de Salles played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Peter Crouch in the 45th minute of play. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Claudio Echeverri to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 56th minute, Kenny Duckworth hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Fabien Barthez stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Claudio Echeverri's shot from short distance in the 61st minute. Geovani de Salles tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 84 played minutes Peter Crouch could catch the ball where he stood relatively free a bit outside the goal and without hesitation he completed 2-1 into the left cross. Fabien Barthez showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Baran Sarka, who was totally free with the ball in the 87th minute. In the 91st minute Emiliano Gai shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Fabien Barthez saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 95 played minutes Egg Chasers FC got a freekick which was hit by Matthew Brookman.

The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Ríver Late fans cheered their team off the field, for while Egg Chasers FC had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
