New England Minas's Jeremy Nicholas played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Marcelinho de Salles in the 13th minute of play. Itajaí Football Club's Marcelo Galvão proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 21st minute of the match, managed to save Itajaí Football Club from getting a goal against them. Jeremy Nicholas came out of the goal in the 23rd minute to try and stop a shot by Itajaí Football Club's Conrado Miranda. But to his dismay, Conrado Miranda quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-2. Marcelo Galvão made an important save on a dangerous shot by António Nóbrega in the 28th minute. Bruno Barros hit a great freekick 30 minutes into the match. In the 94th minute, Gilberto Arce hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 95th minute Tio Lio shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Marcelo Galvão saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Itajaí Football Club's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
