With his leg Ruy Montenegro managed to avoid a goal in the 15thth minute, when New England Minas's Tony Pacheco fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gernando Azevedo in the 17th minute of play forced New England Minas's goalkeeper Jeremy Nicholas to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 19 minutes into the match, Los Andes FC - FSCMZ's goalkeeper Ruy Montenegro had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Edgardo Silva. Gernando Azevedo blasted a shot towards the goal in the 27th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Jeremy Nicholas having to make a save. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gernando Azevedo in the 27th minute of play forced New England Minas's goalkeeper Jeremy Nicholas to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 29 minutes into the match, Los Andes FC - FSCMZ's goal looked a bit too open when Edgardo Silva came free, but Ruy Montenegro reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in New England Minas's zone, Gernando Azevedo stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jeremy Nicholas came out of the goal and Gernando Azevedo tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Ruy Montenegro stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Edgardo Silva's shot from short distance in the 42nd minute. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Edgardo Silva to strike the kick off in the second half. Gernando Azevedo blasted a shot towards the goal in the 55th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Jeremy Nicholas having to make a save. 55 minutes into the match, New England Minas's goalkeeper Jeremy Nicholas had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Gernando Azevedo. Ruy Montenegro stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Tony Pacheco's shot from short distance in the 61st minute. Los Andes FC - FSCMZ's Gernando Azevedo got a good chance for a goal in the 63rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. New England Minas's Tio Lio was substituted for Edgardo Silva. New England Minas's Ye Gang Cheng quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Stefan Stenquist, made in the 74th minute of the game. Oscar Nordmark kicked well hit freekick during the 79th minute of the match. After a defensive mix-up in New England Minas's zone, Gernando Azevedo stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jeremy Nicholas came out of the goal and Gernando Azevedo tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Ruy Montenegro showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Tony Pacheco, who was totally free with the ball in the 84th minute. 85 minutes into the match, Tony Pacheco had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Ruy Montenegro. Los Andes FC - FSCMZ's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Tony Pacheco was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-1. Ruy Montenegro showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Tio Lio, who was totally free with the ball in the 88th minute. In the 89th minute, Xiao Bang Kun hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After some careless play in the New England Minas defense, Gernando Azevedo kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Jeremy Nicholas. The New England Minas fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Jeremy Nicholas should have stopped the shot. Ruy Montenegro made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Tony Pacheco in the 93rd minute of play. After having played for 95 minutes, Gernando Azevedo managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Los Andes FC - FSCMZ's supporters crossed their fingers, but Gernando Azevedo was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal.
