The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 4th minute Edgardo Silva shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jeremias Moreno saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 9 minutes into the match, Edgardo Silva notched a goal, 1-0, to the right of ADM Taquaras's Jeremias Moreno. Jeremias Moreno was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Jeremy Nicholas took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Denílson Tepedino, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Denílson Tepedino in the 14th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Jeremy Nicholas prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Jeremy Nicholas showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Denílson Tepedino, who was totally free with the ball in the 20th minute. In the 22nd minute of the game Xiao Bang Kun made a throw-in which Edgardo Silva played forward. Denílson Tepedino fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 23rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jeremy Nicholas having to interfere. If Celsinho Perez had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 38th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. After having played for 38 minutes, Denílson Tepedino managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. ADM Taquaras's supporters crossed their fingers, but Denílson Tepedino was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

The wind increased when Edgardo Silva made the kick off in the second half. Celsinho Perez sent away a hard shot on goal in the 52nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Jeremy Nicholas stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Celsinho Perez's shot from short distance in the 54th minute. Through an outstanding action, after 59 minutes, Jeremy Nicholas successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. The supporters of New England Minas booed when ADM Taquaras was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 63 match minutes in a wonderful position. Áron Bódog didn't get a good kick on the ball. New England Minas's Jeremy Nicholas played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Denílson Tepedino in the 65th minute of play. Jeremias Moreno made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Tony Pacheco in the 67th minute of play. If Oscar Nordmark had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 73rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. New England Minas made a substitution. Tio Lio replaced Edgardo Silva. 77 minutes into the match, ADM Taquaras's goal looked a bit too open when Tio Lio came free, but Jeremias Moreno reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Jeremy Nicholas made a fantastic save in the 79th minute, when Cido Cabral sent off a good shot on target. 85 minutes into the match, New England Minas's goal looked a bit too open when Denílson Tepedino came free, but Jeremy Nicholas reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The audience thought a goal was coming when Áron Bódog got free with Jeremy Nicholas in the 91st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The New England Minas support was delighted with a win in a match that could easily have ended differently.
