Gabriel-Omar Santirso started the match with the kick off. Zafer Hürsel made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gabriel-Omar Santirso in the 3rd minute of play. 4 minutes into the match, FC Zenit Saint Petersburg's goal looked a bit too open when Roman Bazil came free, but Zafer Hürsel reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Roman Bazil in the 4th minute of play forced FC Zenit Saint Petersburg's goalkeeper Zafer Hürsel to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Zafer Hürsel showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Venancio Etor, who was totally free with the ball in the 6th minute. The supporters of FC Zenit Saint Petersburg booed when Arroyito FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 7 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gabriel-Omar Santirso didn't get a good kick on the ball. FC Zenit Saint Petersburg's Zafer Hürsel played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Miroslav Kvita in the 14th minute of play. In the 14thth minute of the game Miroslav Kvita who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but FC Zenit Saint Petersburg's Zafer Hürsel was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Miroslav Kvita struck a weak shot in the 21st minute. Zafer Hürsel didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Arroyito FC. Håkan Kjellman could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 28th minute of the match, but Carlos Navarro Montoya made a huge save. When Peter Snell came up free with the goalie in the 31st minute, the FC Zenit Saint Petersburg fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Peter Snell couldn't finish the play. Zafer Hürsel made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Venancio Etor in the 36th minute of play. 39 minutes into the game, Arroyito FC's Gabriel-Omar Santirso nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Zafer Hürsel made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Gabriel-Omar Santirso in the 44th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Zafer Hürsel saved FC Zenit Saint Petersburg from getting behind. After 45 minutes FC Zenit Saint Petersburg's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Venancio Etor who took care of the corner kick. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Håkan Kjellman to strike the kick off in the second half. Zafer Hürsel stood somewhat misplaced when Gabriel-Omar Santirso came free in front of goal and shot 0-2 to the left of him in the 51 minute. Emanuel Emander took the ball and in the 55 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Carlos Navarro Montoya. Carlos Navarro Montoya dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-2. When Basarab Trif fell near the penalty area in the 59th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Arroyito FC's protests and gave Basarab Trif a yellow card for diving instead. Peter Snell fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 65th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Carlos Navarro Montoya having to interfere. Carlos Navarro Montoya took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Håkan Kjellman, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a rather tough play, FC Zenit Saint Petersburg's Håkan Kjellman got a free kick in the 75th minute. The supporters of Arroyito FC booed when FC Zenit Saint Petersburg was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 76 match minutes in a wonderful position. Håkan Kjellman didn't get a good kick on the ball. Arroyito FC's Carlos Navarro Montoya played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Valentin Ivarsson in the 81st minute of play. A collision led to FC Zenit Saint Petersburg getting a freekick after 83 minutes play. Peter Snell hit a great ball. Zafer Hürsel was a little too slow when Gabriel-Omar Santirso got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 84th minute. The score was now 1-3. Zafer Hürsel made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Venancio Etor in the 89th minute of play. After some careless play in the FC Zenit Saint Petersburg defense, Miroslav Kvita kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Zafer Hürsel. The FC Zenit Saint Petersburg fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Zafer Hürsel should have stopped the shot. Arroyito FC's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
