Ciprian Tătăruşanu showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Shi Ming Sheng, who was totally free with the ball in the 6th minute. Ciprian Tătăruşanu made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Shi Ming Sheng in the 10th minute of play. Ciprian Tătăruşanu came out of the goal in the 10th minute to try and stop a shot by Stiinta-Univ.'s Shi Ming Sheng. But to his dismay, Shi Ming Sheng quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-0. An unexpectedly hard shot by Shi Ming Sheng in the 15th minute of play forced Maramures-MM-'s goalkeeper Ciprian Tătăruşanu to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 17thth minute of the game Rik Sligter who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Stiinta-Univ.'s Martin Crețu was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Valeriu Morovan could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 18th minute of the match, but Ciprian Tătăruşanu made a huge save. In the 21st minute, Maramures-MM-'s goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Shi Ming Sheng fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. Martin Crețu showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Maroš Rychtář in the 24th minute of the match. Shi Ming Sheng could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 37th minute of the match, but Ciprian Tătăruşanu made a huge save. Valeriu Morovan kicked well hit freekick during the 39th minute of the match. In the 44th minute, Robert Gane hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 46 minutes into the match, Stiinta-Univ.'s Shi Ming Sheng sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Ciprian Tătăruşanu narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

Stiinta-Univ.'s Șerban Rușanu was substituted for Virgil Oargă. The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Valeriu Morovan to strike the kick off in the second half.
