Catadão's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Rockets the free kick. In the 3rd minute, Ian da Costa hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Joélson Melo took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 3rd minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Renan Mendonça. Catadão's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Renan Mendonça took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Luiz Eduardo Pimenta, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When the match had gone on for 17 minutes, Dudu Madureira put it in 0-1 from a short distance just to the right of Renan Mendonça. Dudu Madureira recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 19th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 22nd match minute, Catadão was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Tadeu Veiga to maneuver through the defense. Catadão's Renan Mendonça played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Joélson Melo in the 23rd minute of play. Renan Mendonça took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Dudu Madureira, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 26thth minute of the game Dudu Madureira who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Catadão's Renan Mendonça was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Geraldo Queiroz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jorge Massa in the 31st minute of play. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Joélson Melo during the 32nd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Joélson Melo kicked well hit freekick during the 32nd minute of the match. Fabinho Mattos hit a great freekick 38 minutes into the match. Dráuzio França came free with the goalkeeper in the 47th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Geraldo Queiroz could save by the left post.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Sandro Tróia to make the kick off. Joélson Melo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 51st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Dênis Munhoz might have been able to make a better finish in the 58th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Geraldo Queiroz. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Dênis Munhoz ran back to his position shaking his head. An unexpectedly hard shot by Sandro Tróia in the 64th minute of play forced Rockets's goalkeeper Geraldo Queiroz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 70 minutes into the match, Catadão's goalkeeper Renan Mendonça had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Dudu Madureira. A collision led to Catadão getting a freekick after 71 minutes play. Ian da Costa hit a great ball. The long shot by Joélson Melo in the 72nd minute really tested Renan Mendonça's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. 74 minutes into the match, Sandro Tróia had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Geraldo Queiroz. Rockets's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Sandro Tróia was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-1. The audience thought a goal was coming when Joélson Melo got free with Renan Mendonça in the 77th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Renan Mendonça showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Dudu Madureira in the 80th minute of the match. In the 83rd minute, Jorge Massa ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Geraldo Queiroz was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-1. In the 87th minute Joélson Melo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Renan Mendonça saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Dudu Madureira succeeded to score despite a near miss that spronge from right pole into the goal to 2-2 in the 89th playminute. Luiz Eduardo Pimenta could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 92nd minute of the match, but Renan Mendonça made a huge save. In the 94th minute Jorge Massa shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Geraldo Queiroz saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The final whistle blew with the score still tied, and both teams left the pitch thinking about the missed chances that could have given their team the win.
