Progresul Pitesti's Martin Tudor played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cornel Gorgan in the 5th minute of play. After 7 minutes, Iordache Nicolcioiu mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Maramures-MM- and the Progresul Pitesti players grew even worse after the yellow card. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 6th minute of the game. One of Maramures-MM-:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Progresul Pitesti:s goal. Ciprian Tătăruşanu had in the 7thth minute some difficulties stopping Florin Logofătu's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. 9 minutes into the match, Progresul Pitesti's goal looked a bit too open when Cornel Gorgan came free, but Martin Tudor reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Vasile Blănaru might have been able to make a better finish in the 10th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Ciprian Tătăruşanu. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Vasile Blănaru ran back to his position shaking his head. Leonard Moise kicked well hit freekick during the 11th minute of the match. 12 minutes into the match, Progresul Pitesti's goal looked a bit too open when Cornel Gorgan came free, but Martin Tudor reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Vasile Blănaru fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 16th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ciprian Tătăruşanu having to interfere. When Rik Sligter came up free with the goalie in the 19th minute, the Maramures-MM- fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Rik Sligter couldn't finish the play. In the 34th minute, Chorache Tofiño got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Cornel Gorgan in the 36th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Martin Tudor saved Progresul Pitesti from getting behind. An unexpectedly hard shot by Dumitru Tudorică in the 40th minute of play forced Progresul Pitesti's goalkeeper Martin Tudor to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Martin Tudor showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Dumitru Tudorică, who was totally free with the ball in the 42nd minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Maroš Rychtář in the 47th minute of play forced Progresul Pitesti's goalkeeper Martin Tudor to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Rik Sligter's late challenge caught a Progresul Pitesti's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Progresul Pitesti were awarded a corner in the 88th minute after Maramures-MM-'s defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Florin Logofătu took the corner. After a rather tough play, Progresul Pitesti's Boyde Palmington got a free kick in the 89th minute. In the 92nd minute, Maramures-MM-'s Karadeniz Yurdaşen ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Martin Tudor. Martin Tudor yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-1. With a little luck, Progresul Pitesti's Martin Tudor got control of the ball when Rik Sligter tried to sneak it across the goal line. A collision led to Progresul Pitesti getting a freekick after 97 minutes play. Timmie Deinse hit a great ball. When the match had gone on for 98 minutes, Rik Sligter took a quick shot and it went in 1-2 without a chance for Martin Tudor to make any attempt to save it. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Maramures-MM- eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
