In the 54th match minute, Velez Sarsfield was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Augusto Cordario to maneuver through the defense. Velez Sarsfield's attentive Ando Averin managed to snatch the ball when Yüksel Sait made a throw-in in the 55th minute of the game. The audience thought a goal was coming when Károly Selymes got free with Teodosio Sergi in the 58th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. With a little luck, Velez Sarsfield's Teodosio Sergi got control of the ball when Konstanty Dzierwa tried to sneak it across the goal line. Kornél Hajdú was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Velez Sarsfield fans cheered their team off the field, for while Szentgotthárd had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
