The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. If Shi Yuan Qi had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 10th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Alf Tempel had great luck who in the 11thth minute grab hold of the ball when 西门 亮 from a short distance tried to put the ball inside the right post. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Daniel Hagedorn in the 23rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Mirko Vervoort prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 27th minute, Werner Frach hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The Mijdrecht Maffia fans' excitement grew in the 30th match minute when Mijdrecht Maffia's Juvenal Vaz looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 2-0 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. 34 minutes into the match, Rapid Wien's goalkeeper Alf Tempel had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Juvenal Vaz. Daniel Hagedorn blasted a shot towards the goal in the 35th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Mirko Vervoort having to make a save. The audience was convinced that Daniel Hagedorn's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Mirko Vervoort was relentless in the 36th minute of the game. Mirko Vervoort showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Daniel Hagedorn, who was totally free with the ball in the 39th minute. Rapid Wien's Timo-Fabian Wolf was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Mirko Vervoort in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-0.

The audience thought a goal was coming when Daniel Hagedorn got free with Mirko Vervoort in the 51st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 52nd minute Juvenal Vaz shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Alf Tempel saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Mirko Vervoort showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Daniel Hagedorn in the 54th minute of the match. In the 55th minute, Hans Plescher hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Despite this Alf Tempel quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. 69 minutes into the game, Rapid Wien's Shi Yuan Qi nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Mirko Vervoort made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-1. In the 72nd minute 西门 亮 shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Alf Tempel saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 73 minutes had been played when some careless play by Rapid Wien's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Kurt Holthuis was slow to take the kick. During this time Mijdrecht Maffia's players had a chance to rest. Daniel Hagedorn blasted a shot towards the goal in the 80th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Mirko Vervoort having to make a save. After a defensive mix-up in Mijdrecht Maffia's zone, Daniel Hagedorn stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Mirko Vervoort came out of the goal and Daniel Hagedorn tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Mijdrecht Maffia fans cheered their team off the field, for while Rapid Wien had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
