The supporters of AFC FUSION booed when Sporting de Gijón was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 13 match minutes in a wonderful position. Eustacio Loiola didn't get a good kick on the ball. Lino Rios received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 14th minute. Óscar Cordoba tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Óscar Cordoba showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Lino Rios, who was totally free with the ball in the 17th minute. 19 minutes into the match, Sporting de Gijón's goal looked a bit too open when Lino Rios came free, but Óscar Cordoba reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Diego Maradona in the 20th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Roberto Eztebe prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After some fancy dribbling in the 32nd minute, Lino Rios managed to get in a good position for a shot. AFC FUSION's supporters rose to their feet, but Lino Rios was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Óscar Cordoba breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 37 minutes into the match, Sporting de Gijón's goal looked a bit too open when Lino Rios came free, but Óscar Cordoba reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. AFC FUSION's Roberto Eztebe played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Matias Bilintx in the 43rd minute of play. Roberto Eztebe showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Saturnino Curcio in the 44th minute of the match. After a defensive mix-up in AFC FUSION's zone, Diego Maradona stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Roberto Eztebe came out of the goal and Diego Maradona tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Lino Rios was the one to do the kick off. In the 52ndth minute of the game Alejandro Rufo who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but AFC FUSION's Roberto Eztebe was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Thanks to some nice moves Matias Bilintx could shoot a difficult shot in the 54th minute, which Roberto Eztebe however easily saved by the left post. Óscar Cordoba took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Lino Rios, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 57 minutes into the match, Sporting de Gijón's goal looked a bit too open when Lino Rios came free, but Óscar Cordoba reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 60th minute AFC FUSION were awarded a corner. Dawid Beckham went to the cornerflag to take it. AFC FUSION's Roberto Eztebe proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 62nd minute of the match, managed to save AFC FUSION from getting a goal against them. AFC FUSION's Dawid Beckham was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Óscar Cordoba in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. 95 minutes into the match, AFC FUSION's goalkeeper Roberto Eztebe had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Wayne Rooney. AFC FUSION succeeded in salvaging a draw, even though Sporting de Gijón had controlled the match.
