Aníbal Alagoano started the match with the kick off. Through an outstanding action, after 10 minutes, Nestor Cortez successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. After a rather tough play, Lobos de Carelia's Tomás Laurendi got a free kick in the 11th minute. David Seaman stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Prospero Perico's shot from short distance in the 13th minute. In the 16th minute, Dylan Browne hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 17 played minutes Jenipapo SC got a freekick which was hit by Börje Kämpe. An unexpectedly hard shot by Prospero Perico in the 20th minute of play forced Jenipapo SC's goalkeeper David Seaman to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Lobos de Carelia's Nestor Cortez played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Aníbal Alagoano in the 24th minute of play. 26 minutes into the match, Lobos de Carelia's goal looked a bit too open when Aníbal Alagoano came free, but Nestor Cortez reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Jenipapo SC's zone, Cristobal Lia stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. David Seaman came out of the goal and Cristobal Lia tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Raphael Cunha could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 34th minute of the match, but Nestor Cortez made a huge save. When Jenipapo SC's Vinicio Junior in the 36th minute got a chance for a shot 36th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Lobos de Carelia's goalie prevented a goal. In the 43rd minute, Raphael Cunha got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Prospero Perico to strike the kick off in the second half. 52 minutes into the match, Vinicio Junior had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Nestor Cortez. Lobos de Carelia's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Vinicio Junior was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-0. The referee felt a red card was in order, 55 minutes into the game, when Eusebio Rios put in a rough tackle. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 55th minute of the game. One of Lobos de Carelia:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Jenipapo SC:s goal. In the 57th minute there was a penalty for Jenipapo SC. Aníbal Alagoano stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Nestor Cortez. 2-0. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Aníbal Alagoano in the 66th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Nestor Cortez saved Lobos de Carelia from getting behind. Jenipapo SC's Aníbal Alagoano got a good chance for a goal in the 73rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Lobos de Carelia's Pavao Zadro was substituted for Cristobal Lia. Prospero Perico received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 77th minute. David Seaman tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Nestor Cortez took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Aníbal Alagoano, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Nestor Cortez showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Vinicio Junior in the 85th minute of the match. In the 89th minute the ball was on its way in behind Jenipapo SC's goalkeeper David Seaman, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Prospero Perico sent away a hard shot on goal in the 96th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Jenipapo SC's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
