In the 12th minute, Aníbal Alagoano reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Osvaldo Neto. The goal made the score 1-0. After some fancy dribbling in the 16th minute, Vinicio Junior managed to get in a good position for a shot. Jenipapo SC's supporters rose to their feet, but Vinicio Junior was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Osvaldo Neto breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 19 minutes into the match, EDI MZB's goal looked a bit too open when Vinicio Junior came free, but Osvaldo Neto reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Osvaldo Neto stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Aníbal Alagoano's shot from short distance in the 22nd minute. Osvaldo Neto made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Vinicio Junior in the 26th minute of play. In the 32nd minute Dennis Roelfs shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but David Seaman saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Raphael Cunha could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 34th minute of the match, but Osvaldo Neto made a huge save. Osvaldo Neto made an important save on a dangerous shot by Aníbal Alagoano in the 42nd minute. If Hortêncio Mandrak had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 44th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The supporters of EDI MZB booed when Jenipapo SC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 45 match minutes in a wonderful position. Aníbal Alagoano didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 46th minute Dong Zheng Hong shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but David Seaman saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The corner led EDI MZB's Anísio da Rocha to fire away a dangerous shot which David Seaman despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Hortêncio Mandrak to strike the kick off in the second half. When Jenipapo SC's Aníbal Alagoano in the 54th minute got a chance for a shot 54th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye EDI MZB's goalie prevented a goal. When Delfim Chaves fell near the penalty area in the 59th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored EDI MZB's protests and gave Delfim Chaves a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Jenipapo SC booed when EDI MZB was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 59 match minutes in a wonderful position. Delfim Chaves didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 62nd minute of the match, Dennis Roelfs tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but David Seaman saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. Osvaldo Neto showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Raphael Cunha in the 64th minute of the match. Osvaldo Neto showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Raphael Cunha, who was totally free with the ball in the 64th minute. David Seaman made a fantastic save in the 65th minute, when Hortêncio Mandrak sent off a good shot on target. Osvaldo Neto showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Vinicio Junior in the 67th minute of the match. EDI MZB's Dennis Roelfs got a good chance for a goal in the 69th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 74 minutes into the match, EDI MZB's goal looked a bit too open when Vinicio Junior came free, but Osvaldo Neto reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Raphael Cunha struck a weak shot in the 75th minute. Osvaldo Neto didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Jenipapo SC. After having played for 78 minutes, Hortêncio Mandrak managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. EDI MZB's supporters crossed their fingers, but Hortêncio Mandrak was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. With a little luck, Jenipapo SC's David Seaman got control of the ball when Hortêncio Mandrak tried to sneak it across the goal line. When the referee blew the final whistle, you could see the dissatisfaction in the Jenipapo SC players' eyes. They were disappointed they hadn't taken more from the game.
