The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 8th minute the ball was on its way in behind Matungo Gaúcho's goalkeeper Ademir Baptista, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 9th minute Geležinis Vilkas were awarded a corner. Eitautas Ivoška went to the cornerflag to take it. The corner led Geležinis Vilkas's Eitautas Ivoška to fire away a dangerous shot which Ademir Baptista despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Geležinis Vilkas's Ovidijus Merkelis proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 11th minute of the match, managed to save Geležinis Vilkas from getting a goal against them. Geležinis Vilkas's Ovidijus Merkelis played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Josué Pinheiro in the 13th minute of play. When Gabrielius Velička came up free with the goalie in the 20th minute, the Geležinis Vilkas fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Gabrielius Velička couldn't finish the play. Ovidijus Merkelis showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gilmar Borges in the 23rd minute of the match. Geležinis Vilkas's Ovidijus Merkelis played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Josué Pinheiro in the 25th minute of play. In the 26th minute of the match Matungo Gaúcho got a corner. Geležinis Vilkas's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Gilmar Borges ran over to the corner to take the kick. Ovidijus Merkelis showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gilmar Borges in the 30th minute of the match. The crowd rose to their feet as Matungo Gaúcho's Josué Madureira slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Ovidijus Merkelis. That made the score 1-0 after 32 minutes of play. In the 39th minute, Marcinho Sena made a precise shot to the right of Ovidijus Merkelis. Geležinis Vilkas's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-0. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-0 at half-time.

Matungo Gaúcho made a substitution. Diego Baresi replaced Renan de Senna. When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Josué Pinheiro made a kick off. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Gilmar Borges in the 56th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Ovidijus Merkelis prevented the ball from getting in the gole. An unexpectedly hard shot by Marcinho Sena in the 61st minute of play forced Geležinis Vilkas's goalkeeper Ovidijus Merkelis to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 68th minute Deimantas Satkus shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ademir Baptista saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Geležinis Vilkas's Ovidijus Merkelis played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Josué Pinheiro in the 69th minute of play. The crowd rose to their feet as Deimantas Satkus kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Ademir Baptista. That made the score 2-2 in the 73 minute of play. When the match clock showed 87 minutes, the score became 3-2 when Josué Pinheiro sped through Geležinis Vilkas's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Ovidijus Merkelis. Celedonio Florinio took the ball and in the 90 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Ovidijus Merkelis. Ovidijus Merkelis dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 4-2. In the 94th minute of the game Diego Baresi made a throw-in which Gilmar Borges played forward. In the 95th match minute, Matungo Gaúcho was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Marcinho Sena to maneuver through the defense. Gilmar Borges struck a weak shot in the 97th minute. Ovidijus Merkelis didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Matungo Gaúcho.
