In the 15th minute, Leonel Messi made a precise shot to the right of Juan Carlos Alvarez. Marlin FC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1. In the 19th minute Leonel Messi shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Juan Carlos Alvarez saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Clube Atl. Taquaritinga's Haroldo Dante played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Giovanni Rana in the 34th minute of play. 39 minutes into the match, Marlin FC's goal looked a bit too open when Leonel Messi came free, but Juan Carlos Alvarez reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The audience was convinced that Breno Loyola's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Juan Carlos Alvarez was relentless in the 39th minute of the game. A well-hit corner resulted in Breno Loyola heading the ball towards the goal, but to his dismay he misdirected it and missed the goal completely. When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Breno Loyola made a kick off. In the 54th minute of the match, Leonel Messi got a very nice opportunity to score, but Juan Carlos Alvarez was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. Marlin FC's Juan Carlos Alvarez proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 56th minute of the match, managed to save Marlin FC from getting a goal against them. The Clube Atl. Taquaritinga supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Clube Atl. Taquaritinga would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
