Flamengo's August Hjortberg proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 19th minute of the match, managed to save Flamengo from getting a goal against them. 20 minutes into the match, Ahmet Orhan Kazakhan had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Pär Are. Montechiarugolo AFC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Ahmet Orhan Kazakhan was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-1. In the 40th minute Carmine Belardi shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but August Hjortberg saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Pär Are made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Henrik Kilström in the 45th minute of play. August Hjortberg made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Anfilogino Preda in the 47th minute of play. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 3-1.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Carmine Belardi stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. An unexpectedly hard shot by Daniele Bevilacqua in the 51st minute of play forced Flamengo's goalkeeper August Hjortberg to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Pär Are took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ahmet Orhan Kazakhan, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Pär Are showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Sal Mone hit a great freekick 63 minutes into the match. Anfilogino Preda was slow to take the kick. During this time Montechiarugolo AFC's players had a chance to rest. Flamengo's Henrik Kilström couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 79th minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Montechiarugolo AFC. In the 84th minute Ahmet Orhan Kazakhan shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Pär Are saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 85th minute Fedele Marinetti shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but August Hjortberg saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. August Hjortberg showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Fedele Marinetti in the 91st minute of the match.
