Jeremy Nicholas showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Babür Kongurtay in the 3rd minute of the match. Edgardo Silva blasted a shot towards the goal in the 10th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Daniel Chaves having to make a save. The audience thought a goal was coming when Edgardo Silva got free with Daniel Chaves in the 10th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. New England Minas's Edgardo Silva got a good chance for a goal in the 14th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. If Roman Major had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 20th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. 24 minutes into the match, Babür Kongurtay notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of New England Minas's Jeremy Nicholas. Jeremy Nicholas was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. After 28 played minutes New England Minas got a freekick which was hit by Glen Conklin. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Babür Kongurtay in the 30th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Jeremy Nicholas prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 32nd minute Dragões Barbudos FC were awarded a corner. Thomas Semeloglou went to the cornerflag to take it. Dragões Barbudos FC's Thomas Semeloglou was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Jeremy Nicholas in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. Jeremy Nicholas showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Babür Kongurtay, who was totally free with the ball in the 37th minute. After a defensive mix-up in Dragões Barbudos FC's zone, Edgardo Silva stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Daniel Chaves came out of the goal and Edgardo Silva tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Daniel Chaves made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Glen Conklin in the 45th minute of play. New England Minas made a substitution. Tio Lio replaced Tony Pacheco. In the 49th minute, Christiano Alagoano hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Daniel Chaves was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 50th minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from António Nóbrega. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Edgardo Silva to strike the kick off in the second half. An unexpectedly hard shot by Tio Lio in the 55th minute of play forced Dragões Barbudos FC's goalkeeper Daniel Chaves to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 56 minutes into the match, Dragões Barbudos FC's goal looked a bit too open when Edgardo Silva came free, but Daniel Chaves reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 56 minutes into the game, New England Minas's Edgardo Silva nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Daniel Chaves made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-1. Jeremy Nicholas made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Babür Kongurtay in the 63rd minute of play. Gildo Marques thought of kicking away a contribution in front of goal but messed it up so badly that the ball went to the right of an astonished Daniel Chaves, a very annoying self made goal in the 71st minute which led to 2-1. New England Minas's Jeremy Nicholas played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Fernando Gomes in the 78th minute of play. In the 81st minute Edgardo Silva shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Daniel Chaves saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Edgardo Silva in the 83rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Daniel Chaves saved Dragões Barbudos FC from getting behind. After recieving a nice pass, New England Minas's António Nóbrega tried to score from far away in the 85th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. Daniel Chaves showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Edgardo Silva, who was totally free with the ball in the 87th minute. Tio Lio succeeded in the game's 89th minute to shoot an unreachable shot under the crossbar and scored - 3-1. In the 95th minute Edgardo Silva shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Daniel Chaves saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 97th minute, Edgardo Silva made a precise shot to the right of Daniel Chaves. Dragões Barbudos FC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 4-1.

New England Minas's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
