Spectators: 40 (Terracing: 31, Seating: 9, VIP seats: 0) Sporting Cristal's Fernanco Peso started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. The supporters of Sporting Cristal booed when Viola Invest was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 9 match minutes in a wonderful position. Kuuno Tälli didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 11th minute Fernanco Peso shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dumitru Doloman saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Dumitru Doloman made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Fernanco Peso in the 11th minute of play. 13 minutes into the match, Sporting Cristal's goalkeeper Jon Iruegas had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Gavril Anghelescu. Fernanco Peso's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Dumitru Doloman read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 20th minute of play. After a rather tough play, Sporting Cristal's Llorienzo Buenaga got a free kick in the 21st minute. Jon Iruegas made a fantastic save in the 24th minute, when Mario Jakobe sent off a good shot on target. With a little luck, Sporting Cristal's Jon Iruegas got control of the ball when Mario Jakobe tried to sneak it across the goal line. Fernanco Peso might have been able to make a better finish in the 35th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Dumitru Doloman. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Fernanco Peso ran back to his position shaking his head. Dumitru Doloman showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Fernanco Peso in the 35th minute of the match. After 37 played minutes Viola Invest got a freekick which was hit by Tobias Emander. Dumitru Doloman made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Fernanco Peso in the 38th minute of play. 45 minutes into the match, Sporting Cristal's goal looked a bit too open when Stig-Åke Gabrielsson came free, but Jon Iruegas reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Kuuno Tälli made a kick off. After some careless play in the Sporting Cristal defense, Mario Jakobe kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Jon Iruegas. The Sporting Cristal fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Jon Iruegas should have stopped the shot. Jon Iruegas took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Stig-Åke Gabrielsson, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 62nd minute Mario Jakobe shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jon Iruegas saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a rather tough play, Sporting Cristal's Ronaldão Nogueira got a free kick in the 62nd minute. Sporting Cristal made a substitution. Claudinei Suarbol replaced Sal Grandoso. After 63 played minutes Sporting Cristal got a freekick which was hit by Ronaldão Nogueira. In the 64th match minute, Sporting Cristal was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Gertjan De Ryck to maneuver through the defense. In the 64th minute of the match Tobias Emander shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Jon Iruegas showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Kuuno Tälli fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 68th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jon Iruegas having to interfere. Viola Invest's Dumitru Doloman proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 74th minute of the match, managed to save Viola Invest from getting a goal against them. In the 77th minute, Sporting Cristal's Fernanco Peso ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Dumitru Doloman. Dumitru Doloman yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 2-1. Jon Iruegas made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Stig-Åke Gabrielsson in the 88th minute of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Christian Luciano got free with Dumitru Doloman in the 90th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. For all the effort they put into the match, the Sporting Cristal players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Viola Invest.
