Daniel Hagedorn received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Orestis Lazarou came out and tried to block the shot, but Daniel Hagedorn slotted it home off the left post making it 2-0 in the 18th minute. Rapid Wien's Alf Tempel played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Franco Aznar in the 22nd minute of play. A collision led to Rondo getting a freekick after 24 minutes play. Dirk-Jan Knuppel hit a great ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 29th minute, Charly Rusterholz managed to get in a good position for a shot. Rondo's supporters rose to their feet, but Charly Rusterholz was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Alf Tempel breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Orestis Lazarou showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Shi Yuan Qi, who was totally free with the ball in the 31st minute. Dirk-Jan Knuppel charged in rather forcefully in the 33rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Dirk-Jan Knuppel the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After a rather tough play, Rondo's Jacco Hekman got a free kick in the 35th minute. 39 minutes into the game, Björn Ekeroth was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Rondo's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Rapid Wien the free kick. The supporters of Rapid Wien booed when Rondo was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 39 match minutes in a wonderful position. Björn Ekeroth didn't get a good kick on the ball. Orestis Lazarou showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Fausto Montel in the 45th minute of the match. In the 47th minute, Fausto Montel ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Orestis Lazarou was frozen by the shot and now it was 4-0. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 4-0 at half-time.

The wind increased when Franco Aznar made the kick off in the second half. After 55 played minutes Rondo got a freekick which was hit by Charly Rusterholz. After some careless play in the Rondo defense, Fausto Montel kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Orestis Lazarou. The Rondo fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Orestis Lazarou should have stopped the shot. Alf Tempel showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Franco Aznar, who was totally free with the ball in the 61st minute. Fausto Montel scored 6-0 in the 63rd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Orestis Lazarou, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. The Rapid Wien fans' excitement grew in the 66th match minute when Rapid Wien's Fausto Montel looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 7-0 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. A collision led to Rondo getting a freekick after 70 minutes play. Orestis Lazarou was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. There was no doubt that Rapid Wien were the better team. Rapid Wien's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
