Dani Hernández showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Aurelio Badilla, who was totally free with the ball in the 28th minute. After some careless play in the Costa Rica defense, Ermengol Alberete kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Frank Mora. Reiner Fallas could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 52nd minute of the match, but Dani Hernández made a huge save. 60 minutes into the match, Venezuela's goal looked a bit too open when Leo Calvo came free, but Dani Hernández reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a rather tough play, Costa Rica's Giovanni Lehman got a free kick in the 69th minute. Costa Rica's Dennis Vilchez was substituted for Antonio Picado. Bento Chandeiro might have been able to make a better finish in the 79th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Frank Mora. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Bento Chandeiro ran back to his position shaking his head. Frank Mora made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Bento Chandeiro in the 79th minute of play. Dani Hernández made an important save on a dangerous shot by Alfonso Mejias in the 81st minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Bento Chandeiro in the 86th minute of play forced Costa Rica's goalkeeper Frank Mora to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 94 minutes into the match, Costa Rica's goal looked a bit too open when Bento Chandeiro came free, but Frank Mora reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Venezuela were really happy, having secured the victory after a very even contest. They thanked the players of Costa Rica for a fine match.
