The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 3rdth minute of the game Qin Kun Xi who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Wittbach SSA's Ján Oblak was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. 4 minutes into the game, Qin Kun Xi cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Ján Oblak was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Ján Oblak made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Qin Kun Xi in the 7th minute of play. The audience was convinced that Ted Lasso's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Narciso Frechoso was relentless in the 10th minute of the game. Alejo Larra sent away a hard shot on goal in the 11th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Wittbach SSA's Ján Oblak played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Qin Kun Xi in the 14th minute of play. In the 16th minute, Ted Lasso got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Narciso Frechoso stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Borys Kolba's shot from short distance in the 19th minute. Fabio Regis hit a great freekick 21 minutes into the match. 23 minutes into the game, Ted Lasso recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Narciso Frechoso. Ted Lasso showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-2. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Ted Lasso in the 33rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Narciso Frechoso saved Velez sarsfield from getting behind. Fabio Regis sent away a hard shot on goal in the 35th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ted Lasso in the 42nd minute of play forced Velez sarsfield's goalkeeper Narciso Frechoso to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Narciso Frechoso made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ted Lasso in the 46th minute of play. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Ted Lasso stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Narciso Frechoso showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Grzegorz Motowski, who was totally free with the ball in the 58th minute. A throw-in in the 60th minute of the game was made by Constantino Frederik with Szymon Pyrzyce as target, who quickly passed the ball forward. Narciso Frechoso took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ted Lasso, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 66th minute, Qin Kun Xi got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Velez sarsfield's Walter Pico was substituted for Qin Kun Xi. Walter Pico recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 74th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 83rd minute Szymon Pyrzyce shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Narciso Frechoso saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a rather tough play, Velez sarsfield's Agustin Bernaldo got a free kick in the 84th minute. In the 85th match minute, Wittbach SSA was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jedrzej Ikalewicz to maneuver through the defense. If Walter Pico had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 89th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Narciso Frechoso made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ted Lasso in the 91st minute of play. When Alejo Larra fell near the penalty area in the 96th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Velez sarsfield's protests and gave Alejo Larra a yellow card for diving instead. After a rather tough play, Velez sarsfield's Alejo Larra got a free kick in the 96th minute.
