Black Diamond's Dick Vedholm played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Fernanco Peso in the 15th minute of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Hüseyin Turan Elçibey got free with Dick Vedholm in the 16th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The corner ended in Christian Luciano almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Black Diamond's Dick Vedholm did a great save. In the 79th minute Stelian Hortopan shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jon Iruegas saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 80 minutes into the match, Sporting Cristal's goal looked a bit too open when Hurko Longo came free, but Jon Iruegas reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Hurko Longo could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 83rd minute of the match, but Jon Iruegas made a huge save. Christian Luciano took the ball and in the 96 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Dick Vedholm. Dick Vedholm dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 4-1. The Sporting Cristal players were eager to celebrate when the final whistle sounded. They had somehow managed to win, even though the away team had held the majority of the possession.
