Vila Nova FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Walmyr Penha was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Evaristo Mandrak breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Ademir Cruz showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Geraldo Rezende, who was totally free with the ball in the 14th minute. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Geraldo Rezende in the 22nd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Ademir Cruz prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Jano Queiroz's late challenge caught a TAQUARI FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Jano Queiroz helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, Vila Nova FC's Jano Queiroz got a free kick in the 23rd minute. Osvaldinho Prestes hit a great freekick 25 minutes into the match. The supporters of TAQUARI FC booed when Vila Nova FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 28 match minutes in a wonderful position. Osvaldinho Prestes didn't get a good kick on the ball. Vila Nova FC's Ademir Cruz played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by David Freitas in the 34th minute of play. In the 35th minute, Wanderson Baptista hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Evaristo Mandrak made an important save on a dangerous shot by Wanderson Baptista in the 41st minute. The supporters of Vila Nova FC booed when TAQUARI FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 41 match minutes in a wonderful position. David Freitas didn't get a good kick on the ball. 46 minutes into the match, TAQUARI FC's goal looked a bit too open when Adhemar Freire came free, but Evaristo Mandrak reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. With 48 minutes on the clock, Sílvio Luís Leal commited a dangerous tackle. The referee had no choice but to show him the red card. In the 48th minute, one of Vila Nova FC:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Vila Nova FC. Felipe Munhoz shot the penalty kick by force right in the crossbar. No goal. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The wind increased when David Freitas made the kick off in the second half. In the 58th minute Rony Gomes shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Evaristo Mandrak saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Wilson de Amorim sent away a hard shot on goal in the 62nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 65th match minute, TAQUARI FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Vivaldo Leão to maneuver through the defense. After having played for 68 minutes, Rony Gomes managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Vila Nova FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Rony Gomes was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Rony Gomes sent away a hard shot on goal in the 72nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 74 minutes into the game, Rony Gomes cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-0. Evaristo Mandrak was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Wanderson Baptista recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 88th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. With an all-out effort, TAQUARI FC's Ademir Cruz threw himself towards the right post 98 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Geraldo Rezende, which otherwise would have been placed in the net.
