Zé Antunes made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. 9 minutes into the match, David Freitas notched a goal, 0-2, to the right of Goianésia E.C's Zé Antunes. Zé Antunes was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. A collision led to TAQUARI FC getting a freekick after 14 minutes play. Augusto Ramos hit a great ball. In the 16th minute of the match Waldir Cruz shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Jano Neves showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Waldir Cruz charged in rather forcefully in the 17th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Waldir Cruz the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 19th minute, Belmiro Lopez hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. David Freitas struck a weak shot in the 20th minute. Zé Antunes didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for TAQUARI FC. Zé Antunes showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Augusto Ramos, who was totally free with the ball in the 26th minute. In the 28th minute Adriano Soares shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Zé Antunes saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a rather tough play, TAQUARI FC's Cristian Couto got a free kick in the 30th minute. Jano Neves took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from David Bezerra, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The supporters of Goianésia E.C booed when TAQUARI FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 37 match minutes in a wonderful position. Carlos Fernando Ramalho didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 39th minute, Elias Brito made a precise shot to the right of Jano Neves. TAQUARI FC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-2. After the first half TAQUARI FC were leading 1-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Adriano Soares made a kick off. Durvalino de Amaral's late challenge caught a Goianésia E.C's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Durvalino de Amaral helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Goianésia E.C booed when TAQUARI FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 56 match minutes in a wonderful position. Durvalino de Amaral didn't get a good kick on the ball. Zé Antunes came out of the goal in the 60th minute to try and stop a shot by TAQUARI FC's Adriano Soares. But to his dismay, Adriano Soares quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-3. Through an outstanding action, after 62 minutes, Zé Antunes successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. An unexpected shot in the 64th minute by Geraldo Rezende got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. After 65 played minutes Goianésia E.C got a freekick which was hit by David Bezerra. TAQUARI FC's Sílvio Sena was substituted for Vivaldo Leão. TAQUARI FC made a substitution. Dito de Toledo replaced Váldson da Silveira. The supporters of TAQUARI FC booed when Goianésia E.C was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 67 match minutes in a wonderful position. David Bezerra didn't get a good kick on the ball. Zé Antunes made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cristian Couto in the 71st minute of play. David Bezerra sent away a hard shot on goal in the 73rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 74th minute, Sílvio Sena hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 78th minute David Freitas shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Zé Antunes saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. David Freitas sent away a hard shot on goal in the 81st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Waldir Cruz hit a great freekick 82 minutes into the match. A collision led to Goianésia E.C getting a freekick after 92 minutes play. Claudinho Maranhense hit a great ball. When the match was over TAQUARI FC could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Goianésia E.C throughout the match.
