In the 13th minute, Vítor Cunha ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Jano Neves was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-2. TAQUARI FC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-3. 29 minutes into the match, Atlético Cristo Rei's goal looked a bit too open when Adriano Soares came free, but Alfredão Bueno reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Jano Neves came out of the goal in the 30th minute to try and stop a shot by Atlético Cristo Rei's Vítor Cunha. But to his dismay, Vítor Cunha quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-4. Alfredão Bueno took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Valdir Peres, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Alfredão Bueno didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Adriano Soares went, in the 34th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-4 was the resulting score. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Carlos Fernando Ramalho during the 41st minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Vivaldo Leão kicked well hit freekick during the 43rd minute of the match. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-4 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Adriano Soares made a kick off. The audience thought a goal was coming when Vítor Netto got free with Jano Neves in the 52nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Alfredão Bueno showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Adriano Soares, who was totally free with the ball in the 53rd minute.
