Trần Thien hit a great freekick 9 minutes into the match. In the 15th minute, Hoàng Phuong got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 18 minutes into the game, Hoàng Phuong was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Sài Gòn's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave IFK Ribba the free kick. In the 19th match minute, Sài Gòn was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Hoàng Phuong to maneuver through the defense. Lương Thien made a fantastic save in the 20th minute, when John Hagström sent off a good shot on target. The supporters of Sài Gòn booed when IFK Ribba was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 21 match minutes in a wonderful position. John Hagström didn't get a good kick on the ball. Lương Thien stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Michael Alebom's shot from short distance in the 24th minute. In the 26th minute Hoàng Phuong shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Mustafa Barış Çile saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Filip Olofsson kicked well hit freekick during the 28th minute of the match. In a very dangerous position, a player in Sài Gòn fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 32nd minute. Penalty! Michael Alebom shot the penalty kick right outside the post. Trần Thien kicked well hit freekick during the 42nd minute of the match. Pontus Åström shot from long distance in the 43rd minute, but Lương Thien was prepared and stopped the ball at the left post. After 46 played minutes IFK Ribba got a freekick which was hit by Filip Olofsson. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Michael Alebom to strike the kick off in the second half. Sài Gòn's Lương Thien played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by John Hagström in the 52nd minute of play. 53 minutes had been played when some careless play by Sài Gòn's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Pontus Åström was slow to take the kick. During this time IFK Ribba's players had a chance to rest. A nice corner shot did that Pontus Åström got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Lương Thien quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. If Hoàng Phuong had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 57th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. John Hagström recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 61st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. With a little luck, IFK Ribba's Mustafa Barış Çile got control of the ball when Hoàng Phuong tried to sneak it across the goal line. Mustafa Barış Çile made a fantastic save in the 67th minute, when Hoàng Phuong sent off a good shot on target. Hoàng Phuong could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 71st minute of the match, but Mustafa Barış Çile made a huge save. John Hagström sent away a hard shot on goal in the 72nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 73rd minute Michael Alebom shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Lương Thien saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Michael Alebom scored 1-0 in the 77th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Lương Thien, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Mustafa Barış Çile made a fantastic save in the 91st minute, when Hoàng Phuong sent off a good shot on target. For all the effort they put into the match, the Sài Gòn players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for IFK Ribba.
