With a couple of smart ball manuevers Benoit De Middeleer in the 21st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Benito Sanz saved Costa Rica from getting behind. Antoni Gotfryd received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 23rd minute. Benito Sanz tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Singapore's Antoni Gotfryd got a free kick in the 27th minute. In the 29th minute, Benoit De Middeleer ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Benito Sanz was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Felix Ning during the 37th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The Costa Rica players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Singapore were winning 0-1.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Benoit De Middeleer was the one to do the kick off. When Eliseo Noboa was, once again, overly rough in his play he received his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. 73 minutes had been played. The supporters of Costa Rica booed when Singapore was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 76 match minutes in a wonderful position. Felix Ning didn't get a good kick on the ball. With a little luck, Costa Rica's Benito Sanz got control of the ball when Santiago Morell tried to sneak it across the goal line. 92 minutes into the match, Santiago Morell had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Benito Sanz. Costa Rica's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Santiago Morell was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-5. After 94 played minutes Singapore got a freekick which was hit by Felix Ning. In the 97th minute of the match Alexander Carballo shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Lamar Lee showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. The Costa Rica fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Singapore were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
