In the 15th minute, Daniel Zorita got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Josef Witlatschil showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cristian Sancho in the 19th minute of the match. Josef Witlatschil stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Daniel Zorita's shot from short distance in the 20th minute. Tiger's Josef Witlatschil played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Daniel Zorita in the 27th minute of play. Josef Witlatschil showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Daniel Zorita, who was totally free with the ball in the 32nd minute. After having played for 35 minutes, Gaizka Mendieta managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Tiger's supporters crossed their fingers, but Gaizka Mendieta was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After 38 played minutes Ecuador got a freekick which was hit by Luis Andino. Julio Vera made an important save on a dangerous shot by Pentti Ojala in the 38th minute. After 43 played minutes Ecuador got a freekick which was hit by Agustín Saelices. Pentti Ojala sent away a hard shot on goal in the 44th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. The Tiger fans' excitement grew in the 46th match minute when Tiger's Iwo Sawicki looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 1-0 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Iwo Sawicki to strike the kick off in the second half. Camilo Gisbert was astounded when the referee showed him the red card after a seemingly innocent challenge, 56 minutes into the match. In a very dangerous position, a player in Ecuador fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 55th minute. Penalty! Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Louis Leißner in the 60th minute of play. In the 61st match minute, Ecuador was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Agustín Saelices to maneuver through the defense. Julio Vera showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Christo Bothenhain in the 62nd minute of the match. Thilo Heß recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 63rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The audience was convinced that Iwo Sawicki's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Julio Vera was relentless in the 68th minute of the game. Luis Andino received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 70th minute. Josef Witlatschil tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Tiger made a substitution. Ingo Ustorf replaced Rudolf Speed. Felix Montes hit a great freekick 73 minutes into the match. Julio Vera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Thilo Heß in the 74th minute of play. In the 75th minute Tiger were awarded a corner. Christo Bothenhain went to the cornerflag to take it. After a rather tough play, Ecuador's Cristian Sancho got a free kick in the 76th minute. When Cristian Sancho came up free with the goalie in the 82nd minute, the Ecuador fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Cristian Sancho couldn't finish the play. The supporters of Ecuador booed when Tiger was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 85 match minutes in a wonderful position. Marten Weise didn't get a good kick on the ball. Luis Andino's late challenge caught a Tiger's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Luis Andino helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, Ecuador's Luis Andino got a free kick in the 90th minute. When the match clock showed 92 minutes, the score became 3-0 when Marten Weise sped through Ecuador's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Julio Vera. When the referee blew the final whistle, Tiger could leave the field as winners, despite Ecuador having more of the ball for most of the match.
