After some careless play in the Ecuador defense, Kaberks Suder kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Julio Vera. The Ecuador fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Julio Vera should have stopped the shot. 狄星宇 showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Daniel Zorita in the 23rd minute of the match. Ecuador's Julio Vera proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 38th minute of the match, managed to save Ecuador from getting a goal against them. Felix Montenegro fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 41st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without 狄星宇 having to interfere. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Daniel Zorita stepped up to make the kick off in the second half.
