In the 25th minute the ball was on its way in behind Gunde Omaro FC's goalkeeper Daniel Canto, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Ecuador were awarded a corner in the 39th minute after Gunde Omaro FC's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Daniel Zorita took the corner. Ecuador's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Gunde Omaro FC the free kick. Cristian Sancho helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Gunde Omaro FC booed when Ecuador was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 86 match minutes in a wonderful position. Cristian Sancho didn't get a good kick on the ball. Daniel Canto made an important save on a dangerous shot by Daniel Zorita in the 88th minute. Cristian Sancho's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Daniel Canto read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 97th minute of play. Ecuador were clearly unhappy with the draw, as they felt they had done enough to earn themselves a victory.
