The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 4th minute, Daniel Zorita made a precise shot to the right of Herbert Hilhorst. Verwachting's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1. Twan Hesseling scored 1-1 in the 8th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Julio Vera, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Camilo Gisbert hit a great freekick 11 minutes into the match. 12 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Christijan Schreuder. After 13 played minutes Verwachting got a freekick which was hit by Vincent Koekkoek. 16 minutes into the match, Verwachting's goal looked a bit too open when Cristian Sancho came free, but Herbert Hilhorst reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Herbert Hilhorst showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cristian Sancho in the 16th minute of the match. In the 23rd minute Daniel Zorita shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Herbert Hilhorst saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Herbert Hilhorst made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Felix Montenegro in the 26th minute of play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Daniel Zorita in the 32nd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Herbert Hilhorst prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After 41 played minutes Verwachting got a freekick which was hit by Twan Hesseling. Herbert Hilhorst took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Daniel Zorita, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Christijan Schreuder to strike the kick off in the second half. 51 minutes into the game, Ruud Geels was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Verwachting's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Ecuador the free kick. In the 56th match minute, Ecuador was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Juan Sebastián Puig to maneuver through the defense. Cristian Sancho fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 61st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Herbert Hilhorst having to interfere. Herbert Hilhorst made a fantastic save in the 63rd minute, when Agustín Saelices sent off a good shot on target. After 65 played minutes Verwachting got a freekick which was hit by Hans Deitmers. An unexpectedly hard shot by Luis Andino in the 67th minute of play forced Verwachting's goalkeeper Herbert Hilhorst to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Daniel Zorita fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 68th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Herbert Hilhorst having to interfere. In the 73rd minute Ruud Geels shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ruud Geels in the 76th minute of play. Julio Vera showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ruud Geels in the 78th minute of the match. Daniel Zorita could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 81st minute of the match, but Herbert Hilhorst made a huge save. With a little luck, Verwachting's Herbert Hilhorst got control of the ball when Daniel Zorita tried to sneak it across the goal line. Julio Vera didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Ruud Geels went, in the 94th minute, to the upper right corner, 3-3 was the resulting score. Despite being the better team, Ecuador failed to find the winning goal and were forced to settle for a single point.
