The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. When Francisco Seco came up free with the goalie in the 2nd minute, the Uruguay fans jumped to their feet. In the 43rd match minute, Uruguay was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Maximiliano Escribano to maneuver through the defense. Juliusz Mroczynski made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jaime Cazalla in the 45th minute of play. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-2 lead.

The wind increased when Francisco Seco made the kick off in the second half. Uruguay's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
