The audience thought a goal was coming when Cosimo Lucidi got free with Marcos Cotilla in the 14th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. When the match had gone on for 16 minutes, Ciccio Nazzari took a quick shot and it went in 1-0 without a chance for Marcos Cotilla to make any attempt to save it. After 21 played minutes Panama got a freekick which was hit by Miguel Miralles. Marcos Cotilla showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ciccio Nazzari, who was totally free with the ball in the 22nd minute. A collision led to Panama getting a freekick after 23 minutes play. Alex Cambeiro hit a great ball. Panama's Marcos Cotilla played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cosimo Lucidi in the 24th minute of play. Jose Carita hit a great freekick 25 minutes into the match. In the 26th minute the ball was on its way in behind Panama's goalkeeper Marcos Cotilla, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. If Tomas Berganza had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 28th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 32nd minute, Tomas Berganza ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Attilio Proia was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-2. Attilio Proia made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Tomas Berganza in the 36th minute of play. Abraham Alguacil might have been able to make a better finish in the 41st minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Attilio Proia. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Abraham Alguacil ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 45th minute of the match Panama got a corner. FataMorgana's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Abraham Alguacil ran over to the corner to take the kick. A nice corner shot did that Abraham Alguacil got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Attilio Proia quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 1-2 lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Ciccio Nazzari to make the kick off. Marcos Cotilla made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cosimo Lucidi in the 51st minute of play. 54 minutes into the game, Jose Carita threw the ball into play from the sideline. FataMorgana's Antonello Spada quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. After some fancy dribbling in the 58th minute, Tomas Berganza managed to get in a good position for a shot. Panama's supporters rose to their feet, but Tomas Berganza was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Attilio Proia breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 62 minutes had been played when some careless play by Panama's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Camillo Tartaglia was slow to take the kick. During this time FataMorgana's players had a chance to rest. The corner led FataMorgana's Camillo Tartaglia to fire away a dangerous shot which Marcos Cotilla despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. With a little luck, FataMorgana's Attilio Proia got control of the ball when Alex Cambeiro tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 67th match minute, Panama was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Abraham Alguacil to maneuver through the defense. Cosimo Lucidi took the ball and in the 70 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Marcos Cotilla. Marcos Cotilla dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-2. Attilio Proia made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Tomas Berganza in the 74th minute of play. In the 76th minute, Camillo Tartaglia sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and Panama's Marcos Cotilla didn't even have to move. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Biagio Guerra during the 79th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 79 played minutes FataMorgana got a freekick which was hit by Biagio Guerra. Tomas Berganza received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 80th minute. Attilio Proia tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Antonello Spada hit a great freekick 81 minutes into the match. Tomas Berganza blasted a shot towards the goal in the 93rd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Attilio Proia having to make a save. Marcos Cotilla took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cosimo Lucidi, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The supporters of FataMorgana booed when Panama was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 95 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jose Carita didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 96th minute of the match Camillo Tartaglia shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Marcos Cotilla showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball.
