Aleksander Petka ran over to the corner to take the kick. A nice corner shot did that Nikos Sterpis got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Pedro Manzanares quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. 17 minutes into the match, Colombia's goal looked a bit too open when Nikos Sterpis came free, but Pedro Manzanares reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Michelangelo Merganiotis blasted a shot towards the goal in the 19th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Pedro Manzanares having to make a save. In the 37th minute, Miltos Margaritidis hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 43rd minute of the match Axel Montenegro shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Akis Sarafis showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-1. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

In the 51st minute, German Sarracino made a precise shot to the right of Pedro Manzanares. Colombia's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 3-1. AFC Ajax's Miltos Margaritidis quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Orlando Tafalla, made in the 54th minute of the game. AFC Ajax's Aureo Morera was substituted for German Sarracino. AFC Ajax's Thalis Karteris was substituted for Aleksander Petka. The throw-in from Orlando Tafalla in the 57th minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by AFC Ajax's Miltos Margaritidis. 60 minutes into the match, Abram Sarmiento notched a goal, 3-2, to the right of AFC Ajax's Akis Sarafis. Akis Sarafis was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Axel Montenegro could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 65th minute of the match, but Akis Sarafis made a huge save. Colombia's Ignacio Mastache was substituted for Abram Sarmiento. Colombia made a substitution. Abram Secada replaced Axel Montenegro. In the 70th minute Ignacio Mastache shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Akis Sarafis saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After having played for 74 minutes, Abram Secada managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Colombia's supporters crossed their fingers, but Abram Secada was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The Colombia players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
