Antonio Arias hit a great freekick 6 minutes into the match. Cristian Sancho received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 9th minute. Pål Bergmann tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Pål Bergmann made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cristian Sancho in the 13th minute of play. If Daniel Zorita had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 14th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Bryant Solis in the 16th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Julio Vera saved Ecuador from getting behind. Kārlis Dzintars's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Julio Vera read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 18th minute of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Bryant Solis got free with Julio Vera in the 21st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 25thth minute of the game Bryant Solis who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Ecuador's Julio Vera was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Pål Bergmann showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Daniel Zorita, who was totally free with the ball in the 29th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Bryant Solis in the 31st minute of play forced Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Bryant Solis in the 32nd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Julio Vera prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After some careless play in the DZINTARS defense, Cristian Sancho kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Pål Bergmann. The DZINTARS fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Pål Bergmann should have stopped the shot. Julio Vera made a fantastic save in the 44th minute, when Kārlis Dzintars sent off a good shot on target. Thanks to some nice moves Bryant Solis could shoot a difficult shot in the 44th minute, which Julio Vera however easily saved by the left post. Luis Andino sent away a hard shot on goal in the 46th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Daniel Zorita made a kick off. Cristian Sancho struck a weak shot in the 52nd minute. Pål Bergmann didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Ecuador. If Cristian Sancho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 55th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. DZINTARS's Henrihs Linkūns was substituted for Kārlis Dzintars. The supporters of Ecuador booed when DZINTARS was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 58 match minutes in a wonderful position. Henrihs Linkūns didn't get a good kick on the ball. Pål Bergmann showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Luis Andino in the 62nd minute of the match. In the 63rd minute, Edmunds Tambergs hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Pål Bergmann made an important save on a dangerous shot by Daniel Zorita in the 65th minute. After 69 minutes DZINTARS's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Daniel Zorita who took care of the corner kick. A nice corner shot did that Daniel Zorita got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Pål Bergmann quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. Pål Bergmann didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Daniel Zorita went, in the 71st minute, to the upper right corner, 0-2 was the resulting score. Pål Bergmann made an important save on a dangerous shot by Cristian Sancho in the 81st minute. In the 82nd minute, Agustín Saelices hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 90 minutes, Bryant Solis made it 1-2 with a short kick to the right side. Ecuador's Julio Vera tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. The audience thought a goal was coming when Cristian Sancho got free with Pål Bergmann in the 93rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Ecuador's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
