Xu Yun Quan who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 12thth minute tested the skills of Jonathan Ferrant when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Kerry Sellers fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 15th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jonathan Ferrant having to interfere. Venezuela's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Tomas Illescas in the 19th minute. After 19 minutes, Joshua Secada mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Venezuela and the C. A. Independiente players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of C. A. Independiente booed when Venezuela was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 19 match minutes in a wonderful position. Joshua Secada didn't get a good kick on the ball. Farid Mondragón took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Tomas Illescas, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 56th match minute, Venezuela was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Camilo Gaos to maneuver through the defense. Jonathan Ferrant didn't succeed to prevent the ball from going into goal when C. A. Independiente's Kerry Sellers shot an unexpected shot in the crossbar's under edge and made 4-0 in the ordered_time% minute. Kerry Sellers scored 5-0 in the 64th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Jonathan Ferrant, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. When Tomas Illescas came up free with the goalie in the 67th minute, the Venezuela fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Tomas Illescas couldn't finish the play. Xu Yun Quan's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Jonathan Ferrant read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 70th minute of play. After 71 minutes Venezuela's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Eric Snowden who took care of the corner kick. Jonathan Ferrant showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Claudio Marangoni, who was totally free with the ball in the 72nd minute. In the 75thth minute of the game Kerry Sellers who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. C. A. Independiente made a substitution. Sidney Forbes replaced Xu Yun Quan. After a defensive mix-up in Venezuela's zone, Claudio Marangoni stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jonathan Ferrant came out of the goal and Claudio Marangoni tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 92nd minute Kerry Sellers shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jonathan Ferrant saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After having played for 96 minutes, Claudio Marangoni managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. C. A. Independiente's supporters crossed their fingers, but Claudio Marangoni was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. C. A. Independiente fully deserved thier win.
