The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. An unexpectedly hard shot by Dimitar Berbatov in the 9th minute of play forced Inter de Guayaquil FC's goalkeeper Zuriko Lagala to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Jeppe Tverskov kicked well hit freekick during the 12th minute of the match. In the 14th minute, Daniel Svensson hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 16th minute, Dimitar Berbatov made a precise shot to the right of Zuriko Lagala. Inter de Guayaquil FC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-1. Zuriko Lagala took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Sindre Walle, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 21st minute, Sindre Walle made a precise shot to the right of Zuriko Lagala. Inter de Guayaquil FC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-2. Zuriko Lagala showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Dimitar Berbatov in the 27th minute of the match. In the 31st minute Sindre Walle shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Zuriko Lagala saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Urki Parga's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Henning Sæmer read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 34th minute of play. After 36 minutes of play, Inter de Guayaquil FC's Vicente Depino made it 2-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Henning Sæmer was left in no man's land by his defense there! Urki Parga could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 39th minute of the match, but Henning Sæmer made a huge save. In the 41st match minute, Inter de Guayaquil FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jerson Casas to maneuver through the defense. After 44 minutes, Jeppe Tverskov mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the FC Nordsjælland and the Inter de Guayaquil FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. FC Nordsjælland's supporters crossed their fingers, but Ibrahim Osman was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 66th minute Dimitar Berbatov shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Zuriko Lagala saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 68th minute of the game. One of FC Nordsjælland:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Inter de Guayaquil FC:s goal. Henning Sæmer didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Xusto Vada went, in the 70th minute, to the upper right corner, 4-2 was the resulting score. 73 minutes into the game, one of Inter de Guayaquil FC:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. Inter de Guayaquil FC:s Zuriko Lagala showed great skill when he stopped Andreas Schjelderup:s penalty. Henning Sæmer made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Urki Parga in the 77th minute of play. 78 minutes into the game, Inter de Guayaquil FC's Urki Parga nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Henning Sæmer made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 5-2. The supporters of Inter de Guayaquil FC booed when FC Nordsjælland was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 80 match minutes in a wonderful position. Andreas Schjelderup didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 81st minute of the match Xusto Vada sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Henning Sæmer skillfully saved the ball. Henning Sæmer showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Vicente Depino in the 83rd minute of the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 89th minute, Urki Parga managed to get in a good position for a shot. Inter de Guayaquil FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Urki Parga was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Henning Sæmer breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 96th match minute, FC Nordsjælland was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Mads Hansen to maneuver through the defense. Urki Parga recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 98th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Henning Sæmer showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Urki Parga, who was totally free with the ball in the 101st minute. FC Nordsjælland's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
