Manuel Zubiaga really showed his touch with that goal: 1-0. When the match clock showed 8 minutes, the score became 1-1 when Axel Montenegro sped through Calaflores FC.'s defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Víctor Valdés. Víctor Valdés took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Santino Seco, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Víctor Valdés showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Axel Montenegro, who was totally free with the ball in the 13th minute. Axel Montenegro might have been able to make a better finish in the 13th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Víctor Valdés. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Axel Montenegro ran back to his position shaking his head. Colombia's Pedro Manzanares proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 15th minute of the match, managed to save Colombia from getting a goal against them. 16 minutes into the game, Abram Sarmiento cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-2. Víctor Valdés was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Manuel Zubiaga's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Pedro Manzanares firmly grabbed it by the left post. In the 22nd minute of the match Calaflores FC. got a corner. Colombia's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Dionisio Zubizarreta ran over to the corner to take the kick. After taking down the ball on Calaflores FC.'s corner Dionisio Zubizarreta fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Pedro Manzanares quite easily take care of the ball. When the match had gone on for 30 minutes, Manuel Zubiaga took a quick shot and it went in 2-2 without a chance for Pedro Manzanares to make any attempt to save it. The supporters of Colombia booed when Calaflores FC. was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 37 match minutes in a wonderful position. Alphonso Davies didn't get a good kick on the ball. Manuel Zubiaga could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 39th minute of the match, but Pedro Manzanares made a huge save. Pedro Manzanares stood somewhat misplaced when Manuel Zubiaga came free in front of goal and shot 3-2 to the left of him in the 41 minute. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 3-2 at half-time.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Abram Sarmiento to make the kick off. If Kevin Mastache had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 51st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Kevin Mastache hit a great freekick 54 minutes into the match. In the 55th minute, Coronel Paredes made a precise shot to the right of Pedro Manzanares. Colombia's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 4-2. The audience was convinced that Coronel Paredes's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Pedro Manzanares was relentless in the 58th minute of the game. Calaflores FC. were awarded a corner in the 59th minute after Colombia's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Dionisio Zubizarreta took the corner. It was a well-played corner which Coronel Paredes managed to volley towards the net. Unfortunately, he didn't get a great hit on the ball and it went out into the grandstand. Colombia's Ignacio Mastache was substituted for Abram Sarmiento. Colombia's attentive Pascual Carballar managed to snatch the ball when Gaskon Rubio made a throw-in in the 67th minute of the game. After 69 minutes of play, Colombia's Ignacio Mastache made it 4-3 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Víctor Valdés was left in no man's land by his defense there! Colombia's Pedro Manzanares played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Coronel Paredes in the 71st minute of play. In the 74th minute, Conrado Montero hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After having played for 77 minutes, Manuel Zubiaga managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Calaflores FC.'s supporters crossed their fingers, but Manuel Zubiaga was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Coronel Paredes sent away a hard shot on goal in the 81st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 84 minutes into the match, Gaskon Rubio had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Pedro Manzanares. Colombia's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Gaskon Rubio was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 5-3. In the 87th minute, Abram Secada left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Colombia fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 5-4. In the 90th minute, Coronel Paredes ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Pedro Manzanares was frozen by the shot and now it was 6-4. In the 96th minute Coronel Paredes shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Pedro Manzanares saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.
