Without hesitation aimed to the right of Dante Lacasa, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. Mexico's Dante Lacasa proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 11th minute of the match, managed to save Mexico from getting a goal against them. The audience thought a goal was coming when Diego Ribas got free with Dante Lacasa in the 11th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Sérgio Perez showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Joel Gaona in the 12th minute of the match. 12 minutes into the game, Joel Gaona cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Sérgio Perez was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. With a little luck, Mexico's Dante Lacasa got control of the ball when Daniel Ricciardo tried to sneak it across the goal line. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-4.

Dante Lacasa came out of the goal and Diego Ribas tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Diego Ribas in the 54th minute of play forced Mexico's goalkeeper Dante Lacasa to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 65th minute Diego Ribas shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dante Lacasa saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Sebastian Vettel kicked well hit freekick during the 67th minute of the match. 69 minutes into the match, Mexico's Joel Gaona sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Sérgio Perez narrowly saved just below the crossbar.
