Pocho FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Vladimiro Justin was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Agustín Saelices in the 15th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Silvio Calvet saved Pocho FC from getting behind. 17 minutes into the match, Pocho FC's goal looked a bit too open when Felix Montenegro came free, but Silvio Calvet reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 20th match minute, Pocho FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Valdemar França to maneuver through the defense. Julio Vera made a fantastic save in the 26th minute, when Raul Elequemedo sent off a good shot on target. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cristian Sancho in the 36th minute of play forced Pocho FC's goalkeeper Silvio Calvet to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 39th minute, Jozef Antalovič got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Cristian Sancho might have been able to make a better finish in the 42nd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Silvio Calvet. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Cristian Sancho ran back to his position shaking his head. After some fancy dribbling in the 45th minute, Vladimiro Justin managed to get in a good position for a shot. In the 51st minute, Daniel Zorita got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Silvio Calvet made a fantastic save in the 55th minute, when Daniel Zorita sent off a good shot on target. Agustín Saelices who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 73rdth minute tested the skills of Silvio Calvet when he managed to save the team from getting behind. The referee ignored Pocho FC's protests and gave Alejandro Cortez a yellow card for diving instead. Ecuador's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
