After a defensive mix-up in LUC1F3R R1S1NG's zone, Luis Andino stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Emílio Bittencourt came out of the goal and Luis Andino tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After a rather tough play, Ecuador's Agustín Saelices got a free kick in the 45th minute. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-1. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

When the referee ended the match the Ecuador players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
