Seating: 10, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Kristian Ottaway started the match with the kick off. In the 2nd match minute, Ecuador was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Juan Sebastián Puig to maneuver through the defense. Henley on Thames United's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Luis Andino was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-4. The audience thought a goal was coming when Jake Marriott got free with Julio Vera in the 33rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. If Cristian Sancho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 35th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Daniel Zorita in the 42nd minute of play forced Henley on Thames United's goalkeeper Sofoklis Prinianakis to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After the first half Ecuador were leading 0-4. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.
The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Daniel Zorita to strike the kick off in the second half. 51 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when Jake Marriott came free, but Julio Vera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Kristian Ottaway sent away a hard shot on goal in the 70th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a rather tough play, Henley on Thames United's Grant Sherwood got a free kick in the 80th minute. Edgar Iovanovici hit a great freekick 83 minutes into the match. Kristian Ottaway fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 90th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Julio Vera having to interfere. 93 minutes into the game, Edgar Iovanovici cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-4. Julio Vera was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Ecuador's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
