Tomas Illescas struck a weak shot in the 12th minute. João Massa didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Venezuela. After 15 minutes Venezuela's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Mugur Basarabescu who took care of the corner kick. After taking down the ball on UFC STEAUA's corner Mugur Basarabescu fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Jonathan Ferrant quite easily take care of the ball. The UFC STEAUA fans' excitement grew in the 18th match minute when UFC STEAUA's Nelson Mendoza looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. In the 21st minute, Rigoberto Mina hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Guillermo Mariano hit a great freekick 26 minutes into the match. 29 minutes into the match, Venezuela's goal looked a bit too open when Nelson Mendoza came free, but Jonathan Ferrant reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When Patricio Costa fell near the penalty area in the 33rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Venezuela's protests and gave Patricio Costa a yellow card for diving instead. In the 33rd minute, Patricio Costa hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After some fancy dribbling in the 37th minute, Tomas Illescas managed to get in a good position for a shot. Venezuela's supporters rose to their feet, but Tomas Illescas was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. João Massa breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 42nd minute Nelson Mendoza shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jonathan Ferrant saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. João Massa made an important save on a dangerous shot by Tomas Illescas in the 45th minute. Jonathan Ferrant took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Nelson Mendoza, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Nelson Mendoza to strike the kick off in the second half. Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gigel Seremet in the 55th minute of play. A collision led to Venezuela getting a freekick after 61 minutes play. Jose Correa hit a great ball. In the 62nd minute of the match Şamil Darcan shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Jonathan Ferrant showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 63rd minute of the match, managed to save Venezuela from getting a goal against them. 67 minutes into the match, Nelson Mendoza dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Jonathan Ferrant, 0-2. Xu Yue Yuan hit a great freekick 71 minutes into the match. After 73 played minutes UFC STEAUA got a freekick which was hit by Mugur Basarabescu. After having played for 76 minutes, Patricio Costa managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Venezuela's supporters crossed their fingers, but Patricio Costa was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 77 minutes into the game, Mugur Basarabescu was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Tomas Illescas fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 79th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without João Massa having to interfere. João Massa made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Tomas Illescas in the 80th minute of play. 81 minutes into the match, Venezuela's Tomas Illescas sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that João Massa narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Jonathan Ferrant showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Nelson Mendoza, who was totally free with the ball in the 83rd minute. Guillermo Mariano kicked well hit freekick during the 88th minute of the match. 92 minutes into the game, Venezuela's Tomas Illescas nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. João Massa made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-2. The Venezuela fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. UFC STEAUA were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
