Alexander Carballo kicked well hit freekick during the 8th minute of the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 12th minute, Eliseo Noboa managed to get in a good position for a shot. Costa Rica's supporters rose to their feet, but Eliseo Noboa was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Souad Brahimi breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. When the match clock showed 14 minutes, the score became 1-0 when Jedrzej Rudy sped through Costa Rica's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Benito Sanz. Souad Brahimi showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Lautaro Puig in the 17th minute of the match. A collision led to Costa Rica getting a freekick after 19 minutes play. Axel Tasis hit a great ball. With a little luck, Costa Rica's Benito Sanz got control of the ball when Jedrzej Rudy tried to sneak it across the goal line. KKS Lech Poznań's Souad Brahimi played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Lautaro Puig in the 32nd minute of play. Eliseo Noboa charged in rather forcefully in the 34th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Eliseo Noboa the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 35th minute, Aureliusz Marchefka reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Benito Sanz. The goal made the score 2-0. In the 39th minute of the match Costa Rica got a corner. KKS Lech Poznań's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Axel Tasis ran over to the corner to take the kick. The corner ended in Axel Tasis almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but KKS Lech Poznań's Souad Brahimi did a great save. After 42 played minutes Costa Rica got a freekick which was hit by Alexander Carballo. After 46 played minutes Costa Rica got a freekick which was hit by Eliseo Noboa. Benito Sanz showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Aureliusz Marchefka, who was totally free with the ball in the 47th minute. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

A collision led to KKS Lech Poznań getting a freekick after 53 minutes play. Tytus Kochanowski hit a great ball. If Eliseo Noboa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 54th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Ksawery Basinski received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 57th minute. Benito Sanz tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Eliseo Noboa hit a great freekick 62 minutes into the match. If Feliks Fafinski had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 63rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 65th minute Ksawery Basinski shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Benito Sanz saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The supporters of KKS Lech Poznań booed when Costa Rica was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 68 match minutes in a wonderful position. Efrain Moruga didn't get a good kick on the ball. Benito Sanz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jedrzej Rudy in the 70th minute of play. If Lautaro Puig had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 77th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 82 minutes into the match, Costa Rica's goal looked a bit too open when Feliks Fafinski came free, but Benito Sanz reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Eliseo Noboa struck a weak shot in the 93rd minute. Souad Brahimi didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Costa Rica. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. KKS Lech Poznań had played much better football throughout.
