Efrain Moruga helped the player get up and apologised. In the 3rd match minute, Costa Rica was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Efrain Moruga to maneuver through the defense. Benito Sanz showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Matias Abadie, who was totally free with the ball in the 5th minute. The Costa Rica fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Benito Sanz should have stopped the shot. If Lautaro Puig had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 24th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Benito Sanz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Matias Abadie in the 30th minute of play. 35 minutes into the game, Rudi de Zwart was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Caseys Dreamteam 2's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Costa Rica the free kick. The supporters of Costa Rica booed when Caseys Dreamteam 2 was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 35 match minutes in a wonderful position. Rudi de Zwart didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 41 minutes, Freek Wolf mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Caseys Dreamteam 2 and the Costa Rica players grew even worse after the yellow card. Freek Wolf hit a great freekick 42 minutes into the match. After having played for 43 minutes, Lautaro Puig managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Costa Rica's supporters crossed their fingers, but Lautaro Puig was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The supporters of Caseys Dreamteam 2 booed when Costa Rica was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 44 match minutes in a wonderful position. Alexander Carballo didn't get a good kick on the ball. Costa Rica made a substitution. Alfredo Zoido replaced Axel Tasis. In the 49th minute, Alan Moruga sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and Caseys Dreamteam 2's Ed Wilhelm didn't even have to move. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-3.

With a couple of smart ball manuevers Matias Abadie in the 54th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Benito Sanz saved Costa Rica from getting behind. Ed Wilhelm showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Eliseo Noboa, who was totally free with the ball in the 57th minute. Rudi de Zwart kicked well hit freekick during the 58th minute of the match. Lautaro Puig came free in the 61st minute and tried to tip the ball over Ed Wilhelm, but to the joy of Caseys Dreamteam 2's supporters the ball hit the crossbar and out. After 65 minutes of play, Costa Rica's Lautaro Puig made it 1-3 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Ed Wilhelm was left in no man's land by his defense there! After 68 played minutes Costa Rica got a freekick which was hit by Lautaro Puig. After 69 played minutes Costa Rica got a freekick which was hit by Juan Rubio. Rudi de Zwart hit a great freekick 72 minutes into the match. Eliseo Noboa sent away a hard shot on goal in the 74th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Costa Rica's defense didn't have a chance, in the 78th minute, when Rudi de Zwart scored to the left of an out of position Benito Sanz, making the score, 1-4. Ed Wilhelm took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Lautaro Puig, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 85th minute, Ralph Barels got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal.
