The audience thought a goal was coming when Elbert Gudov got free with Julio Vera in the 25th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Julio Vera showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Luan Velloso in the 27th minute of the match. MANCHESTER UNITED's Helmut Kunze played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Daniel Zorita in the 34th minute of play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Elbert Gudov in the 35th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Julio Vera saved Ecuador from getting behind. Antonio Arias hit a great freekick 37 minutes into the match. In the 40th match minute, MANCHESTER UNITED was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Beloslav Demirev to maneuver through the defense. After some fancy dribbling in the 41st minute, Felix Montenegro managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ecuador's supporters rose to their feet, but Felix Montenegro was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Helmut Kunze breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After a rather tough play, MANCHESTER UNITED's Beloslav Demirev got a free kick in the 42nd minute. In the 46th minute, Daniel Zorita left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Ecuador fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-2. Disappointed in the 0-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Elbert Gudov was the one to do the kick off. Helmut Kunze made a fantastic save in the 55th minute, when Daniel Zorita sent off a good shot on target. An unexpectedly hard shot by Elbert Gudov in the 56th minute of play forced Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 58th minute, MANCHESTER UNITED's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Daniel Zorita fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. A collision led to MANCHESTER UNITED getting a freekick after 59 minutes play. Beloslav Demirev hit a great ball. Luis Andino blasted a shot towards the goal in the 60th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Helmut Kunze having to make a save. Daniel Zorita could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 63rd minute of the match, but Helmut Kunze made a huge save. Helmut Kunze was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Daniel Zorita showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 0-3 in the 63 minute of play. Cristian Sancho recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 67th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 70 minutes into the match, MANCHESTER UNITED's goal looked a bit too open when Cristian Sancho came free, but Helmut Kunze reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Helmut Kunze took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Luis Andino, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 75th minute of the match, Cristian Sancho got a very nice opportunity to score, but Helmut Kunze was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. In the 76th minute Ecuador were awarded a corner. Daniel Zorita went to the cornerflag to take it. The corner led Ecuador's Daniel Zorita to fire away a dangerous shot which Helmut Kunze despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Helmut Kunze made a fantastic save in the 81st minute, when Daniel Zorita sent off a good shot on target. Helmut Kunze made an important save on a dangerous shot by Daniel Zorita in the 82nd minute. After 83 minutes MANCHESTER UNITED's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Daniel Zorita who took care of the corner kick. Gelu Dragomir was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 86th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. In the 88th minute Kristian Harrit shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 90thth minute of the game Elbert Gudov who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Ecuador's Julio Vera was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After having played for 92 minutes, Daniel Zorita managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ecuador's supporters crossed their fingers, but Daniel Zorita was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The audience thought a goal was coming when Cristian Sancho got free with Helmut Kunze in the 95th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Cristian Sancho received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Helmut Kunze came out and tried to block the shot, but Cristian Sancho slotted it home off the left post making it 0-5 in the 95th minute. When the final whistle sounded Ecuador left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than MANCHESTER UNITED.
