The supporters of Ecuador booed when Geležinis Vilkas was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 2 match minutes in a wonderful position. Eidvilas Daunoras didn't get a good kick on the ball. Agustín Saelices scored 1-0 in the 4th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Ovidijus Merkelis, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. 12 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when Deimantas Satkus came free, but Julio Vera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Deimantas Satkus in the 13th minute of play forced Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 27 minutes into the match, Geležinis Vilkas's goal looked a bit too open when Cristian Sancho came free, but Ovidijus Merkelis reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. With his leg Ovidijus Merkelis managed to avoid a goal in the 31stth minute, when Ecuador's Daniel Zorita fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Ovidijus Merkelis showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Luis Andino, who was totally free with the ball in the 36th minute. A collision led to Geležinis Vilkas getting a freekick after 38 minutes play. Svetlozar Platikanov hit a great ball. Gabrielius Velička hit a great freekick 42 minutes into the match. Felix Montenegro received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 43rd minute. Ovidijus Merkelis tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Julio Vera took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Deimantas Satkus, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

After 51 minutes of play, Ecuador's Cristian Sancho made it 2-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Ovidijus Merkelis was left in no man's land by his defense there! Deimantas Satkus recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 56th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 58 minutes into the match, Geležinis Vilkas's goal looked a bit too open when Cristian Sancho came free, but Ovidijus Merkelis reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After having played for 60 minutes, Deimantas Satkus managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Geležinis Vilkas's supporters crossed their fingers, but Deimantas Satkus was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Geležinis Vilkas's Ovidijus Merkelis played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Daniel Zorita in the 62nd minute of play. Ovidijus Merkelis showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cristian Sancho, who was totally free with the ball in the 67th minute. 69 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Deimantas Satkus. Geležinis Vilkas's Ovidijus Merkelis played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Daniel Zorita in the 72nd minute of play. After a rather tough play, Geležinis Vilkas's Eidvilas Daunoras got a free kick in the 73rd minute. When the match had gone on for 76 minutes, Cristian Sancho put it in 3-0 from a short distance just to the right of Ovidijus Merkelis. A collision led to Geležinis Vilkas getting a freekick after 94 minutes play. Zenonas Lopeta hit a great ball. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. Ecuador fully deserved thier win.
