Lester Serre made an important save on a dangerous shot by Cristian Sancho in the 7th minute. 9 minutes had been played when some careless play by San Lorenzo de Sarandi's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Daniel Zorita was slow to take the kick. During this time Ecuador's players had a chance to rest. In a very dangerous position, a player in Ecuador fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 12th minute. Penalty! Ecuador:s Julio Vera showed great skill when he stopped Elias Honrio:s penalty. 22 minutes into the match, Leonides Rosio had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Julio Vera. Ecuador's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Leonides Rosio was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-1. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Leonides Rosio in the 25th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Julio Vera prevented the ball from getting in the gole. An unexpectedly hard shot by Luis Andino in the 26th minute of play forced San Lorenzo de Sarandi's goalkeeper Lester Serre to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Julio Vera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Leonides Rosio in the 29th minute of play. Lester Serre took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Agustín Saelices, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After some careless play in the Ecuador defense, Leonides Rosio kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Julio Vera. The Ecuador fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Julio Vera should have stopped the shot. In the 39th minute, Vasco Olarticoechea hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The audience thought a goal was coming when Felix Montenegro got free with Lester Serre in the 43rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 47th match minute, San Lorenzo de Sarandi was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Elias Honrio to maneuver through the defense. After the first half San Lorenzo de Sarandi were leading 1-3. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Leonides Rosio in the 55th minute of play. With a little luck, Ecuador's Julio Vera got control of the ball when Leonides Rosio tried to sneak it across the goal line. Lester Serre showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cristian Sancho, who was totally free with the ball in the 68th minute. 78 minutes into the match, Ceferino Cuervo notched a goal, 1-4, to the right of Ecuador's Julio Vera. Julio Vera was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Lester Serre made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cristian Sancho in the 82nd minute of play. In the 88th match minute, San Lorenzo de Sarandi was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Camilo Mouricio to maneuver through the defense. Ceferino Cuervo recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 91st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 93 minutes into the match, Lorenzo Jerrold dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Julio Vera, 1-5. In the 95th minute the ball was on its way in behind Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar.
