Nistor Calomfir came out of the goal and Edmundo Espiga tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Honduras were awarded a corner in the 16th minute after FC Univ. Craiova-Stiinta-'s defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Edmundo Espiga took the corner. A well-hit corner resulted in Christian Sancho heading the ball towards the goal, but to his dismay he misdirected it and missed the goal completely. An unexpectedly hard shot by Daniel Pascu in the 18th minute of play forced Honduras's goalkeeper Lautaro Navarro to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 20 minutes in the game Vasile Bouleanu did a throw-in, and the ball was quickly in game thanks to Moise Hârlău. Gigi Negru kicked well hit freekick during the 21st minute of the match. Sebastian Villa struck a weak shot in the 23rd minute. Nistor Calomfir didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Honduras. Nistor Calomfir didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Edmundo Espiga went, in the 25th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-2 was the resulting score. The referee ignored FC Univ. Craiova-Stiinta-'s protests and gave Nichifor Jianu a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to FC Univ. Craiova-Stiinta- getting a freekick after 42 minutes play. Nichifor Jianu hit a great ball. If Sebastian Villa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 43rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. After the first half Honduras were leading 0-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Daniel Pascu made a kick off. If Edmundo Espiga had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 51st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. A collision led to Honduras getting a freekick after 64 minutes play. Esteban Carvallo hit a great ball. In the 65th minute of the match Moise Hârlău shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Lautaro Navarro showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. After a rather tough play, Honduras's Edmundo Espiga got a free kick in the 66th minute. The audience thought a goal was coming when Edmundo Espiga got free with Nistor Calomfir in the 93rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Sebastian Villa scored 0-3 in the 95th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Nistor Calomfir, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot.
